Hello Montessori n’ Such Community!

If you've ever seen a child light up while slicing a play pizza or fitting puzzle pieces together just right—then you've seen fractions in action! In Montessori, we know that abstract ideas (like fractions) become much more approachable when children can touch, move, and explore them physically. That’s where hands-on fraction materials shine!

Our Fraction Skittles with Tray is a classic Montessori material introduces halves, thirds, and fourths with beautifully crafted skittles that children can pick up and manipulate. A visual and tactile way to explore parts of a whole. Our Fraction Circle Puzzle lets children explore fractions through circles divided into equal parts, strengthening both their fine motor skills and fraction recognition. Our Wooden Pizza Fraction Learning Kit lets children "serve up" eighths, quarters, and halves while learning fraction names and values. It’s also a delicious way to reinforce number sense! Our Split Block Puzzle is a visually striking puzzle that makes it easy to compare different fraction sizes side-by-side. Children can rotate and shift the blocks as they begin to understand equivalencies and proportions. Our Tomaze Time Blocks turns time into fractions with clever blocks of quarters of an hour to full hours, allowing children to connect math with their daily routines.

Montessori philosophy teaches us that the hand is the tool of the mind. Giving children the chance to physically break apart and rebuild wholes helps them internalize complex concepts with joy and confidence. And it’s not just math—it’s independence, order, problem-solving, and preparation for the big wide world.
